Saratoga is a Horse Lover's Paradise
The Saratoga Race Course is the oldest sporting venue in the United States, and our 40-day race meeting from mid-July through Labor Day annually attracts over one million visitors. As part of the Saratoga Casino, the Saratoga Harness Track hosts live racing from February through December, and has operated successfully for more than 80 years.
Within the City of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County, and our surrounding region, we are also home to some of the most beautiful and successful horse farms helping our area to preserve open space, local farms, and to generate a local economic impact of $370 million per year!
Saratoga Race Course
The Saratoga Race Course is a wonderful world of its own. Located right in the City's downtown, local residents often walk from their homes to the Track to spend time with family and friends.
When you live here, you witness history every year as the best horses, jockeys, owners, and trainers come to test their skills. Local residents quickly figure out the best places to park, how special it is to attend a morning workout, and how to get a coveted picnic table and NYRA's annual give aways.
Harness Track
Saratoga Casino Hotel has offered live harness racing for more than 80 years, and its half-mile track has been called the most beautiful in the country!
Fans and locals alike can view live races outside at the rail, in the lower clubhouse, in the Grandstand or while eating at one of the many delicious dining options.
Our latest season of live racing is underway! Spectators are allowed to attend live racing, and fans can also wager remotely on the races through our online wagering platform, SaratogaBets.com.
National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame
Located on Union Avenue just across from the Saratoga Race Course, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is focused on preserving and promoting the history of Thoroughbred racing in America and to honor the sport's most accomplished participants.
Founded in 1950, the museum recently underwent a $20 million project that includes a new immersive signature film and state-of-the-art interactive Hall of Fame plaques for all 478 inductees.
Fasig Tipton
Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga sale of selected yearlings is one of the premier horse auctions in the world. It has roots that stretch back to 1917 when Fasig-Tipton formed an alliance with some of the top Kentucky breeders to sell their yearlings during the race meet in upstate New York. The great Man o’ War sold as a yearling at the 1918 Saratoga sale.
The Saratoga sale takes place the first Monday and Tuesday, in August, and the facilities feature an indoor auction room with an auditorium, as well as stables, and an outdoor dining and bar area where everyone is welcome.
