Welcome to the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce

Twin Bridges Council

Formed in early 2012, the Twin Bridges Council is comprised of Saratoga County Chamber members from the southern tier of Saratoga County in communities such as; Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Mechanicville, Waterford, Malta, Charlton, etc. The Twin Bridges Council meets every month with the Chamber's professional staff helping them to develop new programs and initiatives of value to our members in these communities. The Twin Bridges Council meetings are open to any member interested in participating in this effort.

The Twin Bridges Council is now chaired by Kevin Hedley, of Hedley & Company, CPAs. In this role, Kevin helps to set the agenda for each meeting and facilitates the discussion at Twin Bridges Council meetings in a way that is engaging and informative. He also serves on the Chamber's Board of Directors and provides regular reports to the full Board of Directors on the concerns and activities of the Twin Bridges Council and how the entire membership can be supportive of our members in these communities.

While there is no formal membership list for the Twin Bridges Council, some of the more active and engaged businesses represented on the Twin Bridges Council include: Bove Fuels, Merchant Pro Express, Hampton Inn Clifton Park, Capital Bank, CAPTAIN Youth & Family Services, Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, First National Bank of Scotia, Polyset, Hedley & Company, NPA Financial, The Joint, Saratoga National Bank and Trust, Clifton Park - Halfmoon Emergency Management Service, the Clifton Park YMCA and CBRE.

The Twin Bridges Council has now hosted a "Forum with Local Elected Officials" three straight years. The first year, the forum was with Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett. The second year, the forum included Supervisor Barrett as well as Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen. The latest forum included these two Supervisors plus the Waterford Town Supervisor Jack Lawler. Each forum has attracted between 30 and 50 local business owners and managers who have had an informal opportunity to learn about what's really going on in each community and to get answers to questions about local road projects, new businesses coming to the area, and how to better connect with Town government.

The Twin Bridges Council has now hosted two "Employee Wellness Lunchtime Walks" as part of the Chamber's countywide celebration of June as Employee Wellness Month. In June of 2015, more than 100 local employers and employees walked one-mile during their lunch hour to and from the Clifton Park - Halfmoon EMS facility. This location was selected because the participants end up walking in both Halfmoon and Clifton Park on this one mile course. Sponsored by Blue Shield of Northeaster New York, the 2015 event also featured exhibitor booths for participants to learn about local wellness resources.

Beyond advising the Chamber's professional staff, the Twin Bridges Council meetings are now being designed to include tours of local companies. In June, the Twin Bridges Council hosted their meeting at Polyset, in Mechanicville. After the meeting, the attendees were treated to a tour of this local family-owned manufacturing operation that employs 40 people with customers around the world by Raj Ghoshal. Earlier in the year, the Twin Bridges Council had the chance to meet with officials from GLOBALFOUNDRIES who provided the council members with an update on their Fab 8 operation, in Malta.

Every August, the Twin Bridges Council hosts a special networking mixer on the second Tuesday of the month. This is the only networking mixer hosted by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce in August. The event is being held at Schmaltz Brewing, in Clifton Park, this year. The Council is also working on scheduling a networking breakfast in October.
