The first-ever Saratoga Auto Auction will be held on Sept. 22-23, 2017, on the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s stage, showcasing an array of automobiles including Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar and Ferrari.
This inaugural event is a fundraiser for Saratoga Auto Museum, with a percentage of the sale proceeds going to the museum. The museum recently opened a new exhibit, “The Gavel: Cars of the Auto Auction,” which explains the history and process of high-end auctions. This is hopefully the start for the proposal to hold two auctions every year at SPAC in September and May, with the future looking to include a smaller sale during the summer Saratoga Race Course thoroughbred meet.
The list of some of the cars for consignment at the Saratoga sale currently includes, a 1929 Ford Model A 2 Door Sedan, 1931 Ford Model A Woodie, 1933 Ford Roadster Custom, 1937 Ford Cabriolet Custom, 1937 GM Cabriolet Coupe, 1941 Ford Pickup Street Rod, 1957 Ford Thunderbird E Series, 1957 Chrysler 300C "Letter Car", 1957 Continental Mark II, 1964 Porsche 356 Model C, 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL, 2002 Ford Thunderbird, 2003 Maserati Spyder Convertible, and a 2004 Ford Mystic Cobra SVT. There will even be antique classic wooden boats.
This two-day event will also host food and representation from luxury automobile manufactures. Tickets for this first-ever event will go on sale May 1, 2017 at the SPAC box office or online at www.saratogaautoauction.org.
