New Learning Fun For All Children
After closure for renovations this fall, the Children's Museum at Saratoga is now open and celebrating their grand re-opening tomorrow. Featuring their new changes and updates, including a new program room, and two new exhibit spaces - the Sensory Integration Room and the Saratoga Springs Rotary Club STEM Room.
The STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) learning area, is geared towards investigative play and experimentation invention using science, technology, engineering and math. An additional activity and program room that is similar to the STEM room, but without all the science and engineering tools. A new Sensory Integration Room, a small space on the first floor where children who feel overwhelmed can relax inside, sit in bean bag chairs and touch different textures on soft blocks and balls or look at a picture book. The room was designed with children on the autism spectrum in mind.
With the new space, there will be new programs and the future looks towards a before- and after-school program, as well as plans for a summer day camp. New exhibitions, including a Pet Vet area where children can pretend to be veterinarians. An apple tree and beanstalk, as part of a farm, where children can grow and harvest toy vegetables to sell at the grocery store.
Not everything has changed. The favorite exhibits are still in place – a trolley to anywhere, a gazebo that sings and a spring of bubbles. Children can also explore a theater, bank, construction zone, treehouse, post office, firetruck, pond and schoolhouse – all child-friendly and child-sized, where young imaginations can run free for hours.
THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Gives children the opportunity to learn by doing/touching and testing - in their own way, at their own pace. Encourages parents, educators and adults to join their children in the adventure of learning together. Inspires curiosity, sparks imagination and nurtures discovery through the use of hands-on, inquiry based experiences.
