This weekend is your last chance to catch the Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC! Plus, chamber music, thoroughbred racing, polo, art show, farmers markets, tours and more. Here are some Best Bets for the weekend.
The Philadelphia Orchestra’s summer residency at SPAC will come to a close with final performances today and Saturday at 8pm with pre-performance talks an hour before. Tonight is also CDHP Family Night starting at 6pm, with strolling magicians, FREE Stewart's ice cream, free balloon animals, chalk contests, family games and more! Visit the Pediatric Dentistry of Glens Falls' Smile Zone featuring photobooths by Saratoga Photobooth Company! Their final performance on Saturday will host the Tchaikovsky Spectacular celebrating Tchaikovskys magnificent 1812 Overture on the lawn with live cannons, an interactive military encampment in period costume, and also features fireworks!
The Saratoga Race Course continues with fast-paced thoroughbred racing action, leading up to the much-anticipated Travers Week. Special events are Friday’s Taste of NY Craft Beer, Saturday’s Fashion Saturdays and Sunday’s Taste of NY Food & Artisans. Saturday’s card will be highlighted with the popular Grade I Alabama.
There is only two more Fridays to catch The Tang’s UpBeat on the Roof free concert series, tonight and next Friday. Bear Grass will rock the roof tonight with their Folk, Rock and home-spun trip-hop. Take part in a curator’s museum tour before the concert. Saturday night The Tang will also host their last of their Summer Family Saturday program with tomorrow’s theme, Art and Nature.
Saratoga Polo action with continue tonight and Sunday with The Ylvisaker Cup Tournament. Matches begin at 5:30pm with gates opening at 4pm. Friday night will host the Party of 3 with After Match Music. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center at SPAC is winding down with two concerts, one on Saturday at 3pm and their final concert Tuesday night at 8pm both in the Spa Little Theater. This Saturday and Sunday brings the 7th Annual Saratoga Arts Celebration, a juried art show at the beautiful National Museum of Dance, both inside and out, rain or shine.
There are also local farmers' markets, Saratoga tours, award-winning restaurants, specialty shops, museums, historical sites, outdoor recreation, spas, golfing...the list goes on and on!
